Adoptable Dogs

Below you'll find our current* group of dogs looking for homes. Remember, in addition to adopting these wonderful companions, you can always swing by and take one or more of them for a walk, a hike, an overnight or camping trip. It's a great way to enjoy the company of a dog and give him some exercise, affection and socialization. You can also hang out in the cat room and play with the kitties. We update this site weekly, usually on Sunday.

Erol is a tall, long-legged, 1.5-year-old Akbash/Siberian Husky mix with beautiful blue eyes. He gets along well with all people and most other dogs. Was found wandering loose in Ruedi a month ago. No one came to claim him. We named him Erol. Tall, long-legged, great with all people and most other dogs. Can climb a fence as high as 8 feet. Needs a responsible owner.

Thor and Bandit (pictured below) are gorgeous, happy, friendly, 8-month-old, male Siberian Husky siblings who get along well with people and other dogs. In keeping with their breed ancestry, the Siberian Husky was created to be an athletic, independent dog that runs in front of the sled and doesn’t look back. Thus, in general, the Siberian Husky is an active breed that is not trustworthy off of the leash.

Thor is very shy while Bandit is the more outgoing of the two.

Sun is a really cute,funky-looking, 1.5-year-old Australian Shepherd/Pit Bull mix. She gets along with people and other dogs. Sun must have a responsible household because she is initially wary of strangers, and she can be protective of her food with other dogs. Not good with cats. Once you have earned her trust, Sun shines brightly :)

Great with all people. She was originally aggressive towards other dogs, but through daily socialization at the shelter with staff with many different dogs, Patches is doing great now and loves to play with the other shelter dogs.

Allie is a beautiful, athletic, 7.5-year-old Black Lab/Pit Bull mix who is happy, friendly, affectionate and energetic. She is awesome with all people, but she can behave aggressively towards cats and other dogs. Allie will thrive in a knowledgeable, responsible, active home.

Sam is a very cute, strong, energetic, black-and white-colored,
9 year-old Pit Bull mix who looks like an oversized Boston Terrier. She is incredibly alert and very smart and learns new commands quickly. She has been at the shelter for 7.5 years. Great with all people, including kids, but aggressive with most dogs, including all females. However Sam has sometimes accepted large, stable, male dogs.
